LOS ANGELES, California – The Los Angeles Fashion Magazine – August 9, 2012 – Designer and fashion baroness, R. Shay Miles collaborated with prolific photographer Arturo Torres and the beauty and style mavens of Evolving Images Inc. and Chinaka Hoshi, to channel a glamorous time-period in cinematic history.
ahr.es.ihm by R. Shay Miles™ presents Faith Garcia in her role as the gorgeous lead singer in ‘Ode to Sparkle’. Based on the deliciousness of the striking silhouettes, femme fatale makeup, hip-swiveling and shoulder-shimmying performances from the 1976 film “Sparkle”, ahr.es.ihm™ by R. Shay Miles has designed a tribute collection to pay homage to the great glamour goddesses of the cinematic classic.
Setting the scene of a late-1950s in Vallejo, Calif. at the historical landmark, Empress Theatre, the editorial tribute captures a hybrid look of the film’s characters Sparkle and Sister, two members of a Supremes-esque local girl group; while also giving special recognition to the late Whitney Houston and her upcoming movie remake, “Sparkle” (2012). One of the men responsible for making sure the period piece felt genuine is Johnny “Shotgun” Stokes, who paid intimate attention to the overall concept and wardrobe, and provided a 1937 Buick Oldsmobile from his showroom to make the scene feel authentic. “After this tribute was conceived in December 2011, I obsessed over the details from the 1976 cult classic and challenged myself to design 21st century renderings, in support of the 2012 remake”, said R. Shay Miles.
The ‘Ode to Sparkle’ Collection is a quintessential experience that revisits the rules from the fashion time capsule when ‘ladies and gentlemen’ would step out in their finest attire and it reinforces the sultry, regal, and sophistication which is the innate nature of every woman.

Interviewer: t.Rose
SAN FRANCISCO, California - TrendyRose.com - November 9, 2011 - A few weeks ago I was asked by designer R. Shay Miles of ahr.es.ihm if I would like to interview their new b.r.b.e. (be renewed. be of excellence) spokes model for 2011-2012, and of course I was so excited at the opportunity!
I had first became a follower of ahr.es.ihm at the beginning of this year. I was real happy to also been given a chance to actually work closely with the brand and those behind the designs for Bay Area Fashion Extravaganza a couple months ago. I then attended the b.r.b.e. spokes model search in September where I was able to see many beautiful models both inside and out. After the top 5 were chosen that weekend, I followed the voting process which was held on Facebook for a week or so giving everyone a chance to vote for the woman who can “be renewed and be of excellence. ” In the end Azaria Lewis was announced as their b.r.b.e. spokes model.
Check Out some behind the scenes photos of my interview with Azaria- photos taken by R. Shay Miles designer of ahr.es.ihm, a short video clip teaser taken by Minh Tran of Royal Management and video shot by Steve Gonzales of Behind the Velvet eNews.
A Profile of ahr.es.ihm's b.r.b.e Spokesmodel 2011/2012 Winner
VALLEJO, California - September 30, 2011 - After 107 entries and a rigorous 3-day model search, ahr.es.ihm has settled on a winner with beauty and substance, Azaria Lewis.
Combining her passion for humanitarianism and health, Azaria Lewis has made it her mission to be a multi-dimensional role model. Azaria is driven and exudes natural beauty and genuine talent.
Born in Vallejo, California and daughter of Patrick & Caitlin Lewis. Throughout high school Azaria captured three straight Solano County Athletic Conference pole vault titles. She is currently majoring in human development at UC Davis. Azaria chose UC Davis over the University of Hawaii more for its pre-med program than its track program and because it was her "childhood dream college". She is diligently working toward becoming a pediatrician.
Azaria is athletic and her statuesque 5-foot-9 frame is perfect for being ahr.es.ihm’s feature model in their 64th Primetime Emmy® Awards program ad. She has a humble attitude, a poised and well-spoken demeanor, a powerful signature look, and a brand of aggressiveness that is all her own.
“To be renewed is to be made new again, yet this time in a more excellent form. My journey toward self-renewal requires an understanding of who I am and what it is that I excel at. With this understanding of my gifts and strengths I am then able to dedicate each moment to self-improvement, while utilizing confidence as stepping stones to an elevated state of being: Being renewed. Being of excellence.” – Azaria Lewis
Azaria is the definition of fierce. She not only has a unique beauty that is beyond striking, she also embodies health from her healthy eating habits and reads the Bible to work on her inner-beauty - she holistically represents a fierce woman.

It's Christmas in April with Life-Changing Fashions
ahr.es.ihm™ Showcases One-of-a-Kind Fall/Holiday Fashions Exclusively at Charity Fashion Show and Discarded to Divine
SAN FRANCISCO, California - March 2, 2011 - For many years, ahr.es.ihm™ has worked with charitable organizations in creating an atmosphere of health and wellness and positive lifestyle change. Since mid-year 2010, ahr.es.ihm™ has been anxious to participate in two charitable fashion shows for 2011, the Charity Fashion Show and Discarded to Divine.
Both, Charity Fashion Show and Discarded to Divine, were created to bridge the cutting-edge and trendsetting, fashion industry with the powerful impact of non-profit organizations.
"As a brand that puts a woman's grace and elegance first, I wanted to create a desirable, fun, and wearable collection that offers something for a variety of tastes," the designer (R. Shay Miles), who began her eponymous acronym label in 2010, told SF Indie Fashion. This is our first event for the Charity Fashion Show and Discarded to Divine, and we hope to make a difference with unique designs that embodies the message and reflects the beauty of each charitable organization.
Profoundly inspired by grace, elegance, and empowering those who clearly need assistance, ahr.es.ihm™ decided to exclusively launch its Fall/Holiday 2011 Collection at the Charity Fashion Show (http://charityfashionshow.org) on April 2 at the Fort Mason Center in San Francisco. This collection offers ahr.es.ihm's signature asymmetrical designs with an edgy attitude. The collection will be sold primarily at True Essence Boutique in Piedmont, CA beginning September 10.
Simultaneously, while finalizing the collection, Miles kept Discarded to Divine as a design secret for months. When she found a shower curtain and gold drapes from the St. Vincent de Paul Society's discard bin, she envisioned an eco-friendly holiday evening gown. Five designs were illustrated, but only one will be unveiled and auctioned at Discarded to Divine (http://discardedtodivine.org) on April 28 at The Hall at St. Mary's Cathedral in San Francisco.
"ahr.es.ihm is thrilled to participate in fun and innovative events like the Charity Fashion Show and Discarded to Divine," said Rochelle D. Bridgeman, COO. "We are thrilled to champion charitable concepts like these, which helps to promote cultural diversity, community involvement, and homeless outreach."
While no images of the Fall/Holiday Collection or recycled design have been released, design highlights include festive gold tones, silk, faux fur, feathers, and fluid grandeur.
Besides being available at True Essence Boutique, the collection will be offered later in the year in other California locations like San Francisco, Napa, and Los Altos/ Visit http://ahresihm.com.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, California - Talenthouse.com - August 13, 2010 - R. Shay Miles is a fashion designer located in the San Francisco Bay Area of California who began her own line, ahr.es.ihm, in September 2010. She's since participated in two successful fashion shows and is continuously working hard to make a name for herself in the fashion world. Shay finds so much pleasure in designing, especially being able to give creativity and form to dynamic fashion concepts. She aspires to ensure that each customer is "recognized" rather than simply being seen. She's extremely passionate about her signature designs in contemporary sportswear, ready-to-wear, fashion bridal, and haute couture.
Interview between Talenthouse and Shay:
Q.) Whose current collection do you wish you had designed?
A.) If I could have designed another designers collection, it would be Donna Karens Spring 2010 Collection. This collection has ruffles, chiffon, and a gorgeous representation of the well-dressed woman.
Q.) Who is your greatest fashion influence?
A.) My greatest fashion influence is more of a time-period: Vintage Hollywood between 1920-1960 is inspiring. It covers Givenchy, Lana Turner, Bette Davis, and Joan Crawford.
Q.) If you could have one celebrity/known person wear your design, who would it be?
A.) This was the toughest question, since my designs are always a reflection of someone in mind. But if I could design for one celebrity, it would have to be Tinsley Mortimer. Oprah is my 1.5 choice!
Q.) If you were a touring musician, whats the one thing you would request to have in your backstage area every night?
A.) If I were a touring musician, the one thing I would request to have in my backstage area every night would be 2Pac's Greatest Hits looping and blasting. 2Pac always makes me feel colossal and ready to run the world.
Q.) Which color of umbrella do you like?
A.) Garnet Red. Its a great contrast color and accessory and will make anyone stand out.
Shay's Goddess Collection will be featured with other Bay Area designers at the 7th Annual Fashion on the Square tomorrow, August 14th in San Francisco. If you're in the area, you won't want to miss it! She's also participating in Veronica Webb's search for a fashion designer who will design her a red carpet worthy gown.

OAKLAND, California - Oakland Fashion Examiner - August 4, 2010 - The East Bay has it goin' on lately with a thriving group of topnotch fashion designers. R. Shay Miles is the latest addition to the list, having started her clothing line in September 2009. Since then Shay has participated in two fashion shows and she is currently getting ready for the biggest runway show on the West Coast, Fashion on the Square happening Saturday, August 14 under the dome in San Francisco's Westfield Centre.
Shay caught the design bug early in life and continued to hone her natural skills all through college and while working on a successful marketing career. In 1999 she decided to devote more time to fashion design and before long she had built up a small exclusive clientele. Still, Shay says she felt she wasn't living to her full potential. I wasn't happy, explains Shay. I was missing my passion. She knew it was time to start her own line.
Thus was born ahr.es.ihm offering womens contemporary sportswear and shays alter ego, zena offering haute couture, bridal and evening wear. Old Hollywood movies are a source of inspiration for Shay and when blocked she will pop in a DVD. "Imitation of Life is my favorite movie", say's Shay. "Lana Turner was gorgeous in anything she wore." Shay describes her design aesthetic as elegant, timeless and sophisticated. Asymmetry is her signature look and she strives to create wearable fashion.
Dont miss Shay's Goddess Collection featured with other Bay Area designers at the 7th Annual Fashion on the Square. Saturday, August 14, noon-5pm, Westfield Center Dome, 865 Market Street, San Francisco.
ahr.es.ihm Debuts in the Bay Area: New Upscale Fashion Line with Compassion
New fashion line, ahr.es.ihm™ launches at A Night of Wine & Fashion runway tour. CEO and designer R. Shay Miles comes full circle to deliver high-fashion and sportswear designer clothing - both offer a signature aesthetic and timeless sophistication for the virtuous woman and maverick male.
SAN FRANCISCO, California - June 1, 2010 - R. Shay Miles (California) CEO and designer of ahr.es.ihm™ LLC (http://www.ahresihm.com), launched the fashion line in September 2009. She will debut the first collection, Goddess, on June 5, 2010 in San Francisco, CA at 'A Night of Wine & Fashion' and releasing the collection to retail stores in early July 2010. "Everything seems to be falling into place at the right time," says Shay.
R. Shay Miles, a savvy down-to-earth, smarty-pants marketer, decided she was unhappy not using her God-given talent in fashion design and wanted to make sure her designs made a statement and the brand made a riveting statement as well. With ahr.es.ihm's lifestyle mantra: be renewed. be of excellence - it also serves as a conduit when Shay refers to a model as a "fierce b.r.b.e." The mantra works in parallel across the company's overall vision and philanthropic mission; designing for the virtuous woman and the maverick male and supporting at-risk communities.
Shay has been committed to the high-fashion scene for some time now for a private clientele and has taken her passion to the next level with this line. The new line is a true reflection of Shay. The concept began when she was a young girl, inspired by vintage Hollywood glamour and being fascinated by the special occasion clothing her mother and father wore.
Building on a foundation of being s.e.t. (sexy, elegant, and timeless), each collection and couture design, both add flavors that bring the pieces to life in both fabric and adornment. Featuring unique, bold and metallic colors and distinctive fabrics and embellishments, every design is innovative and is an expression of best-in-class style and individuality.
"The Goddess Collection embodies the passion of Shay and I'm excited to work with her to accomplish her goals", said RD Bridgeman, Chief Operations Officer of ahr.es.ihm LLC. "Her determination, enthusiasm and fresh take on the fashion scene is not only praised by the team at ahr.es.ihm, but by fellow designers as well. She is always designing with someone in mind. Once, I asked who had inspired her to design this gorgeous [unreleased] gown and Shay said, I was inspired by the two-headed monster, because anyone would look stunning in this, it's a show stopper."
Giving back to others and supporting community enrichment and youth development are profound initiatives for the brand. Shay has extended her own personal passion to support at-risk communities through volunteerism and now through a corporate commitment to donate a percentage of ahr.es.ihm's proceeds to support victims of substance abuse and The House of Acts, Inc. in Vallejo, CA. ahr.es.ihm's donations provide opportunity for transitional youth and families to focus on family reunification, positive lifestyle changes, community-wide activation, and gain marketable experience.
Look for ahr.es.ihm in 3 runway shows this year, 7th Annual Fashion on the Square (FOTS), A Night of Wine & Fashion, and Spring on the Runway. July 2010 will be the release of Gaudy or Gorgeous, which will be ahr.es.ihm's fashion blog with articles, video, interviews, fashion news, and the opinion of what's haute and what's not.
